Ahhhhh, Christmas Day but it surely feels just like another day here. Got up around 8:00 but everyone was still asleep so I took a walk to the clubhouse to see if anything was scheduled for the day. It was foggy and gray initially but when the sun finally came out, the view was just awesome and postcard-perfect. Needless to say, I just kept on shooting away.
Everyone got up about 10:00 and Rey and Marc assumed their duties at the grill again. We had a heavy breakfast of sausage, eggs, ham, toasted bread, cocoa and coffee while watching the British version of Deal or No Deal.
Returned to the lodge for lunch and then headed out to the fishing village of Tenby, about 35 minutes away from the resort. It is also along the Bay of Carmarthen and is considered as the prettiest seaside town in Southwest Wales. Again the scenery was beautiful along the way; green rolling hills with flocks of sheep grazing.
We arrived at the town center and was able to find a parking spot right away. During the summer/tourist season, this a pedestrian area only with outdoor cafes spread out on the sidewalks. Walked down the cobblestone street to Castle Hill and was greeted with a magnificent view of the harbor. The tide was out so there was a huge expanse of beach and several boats were just laying on their sides. The buildings along the promenade were colorful and reminded us of San Francisco.

Walked down to the beach for a better picture of the other fortress on top of the rock. The view was even better because I was able to see the walls going around the whole town. The beach was very wide due to the low tide and seemed endless. There were people taking slow strolls as well as a few letting their dogs get their exercise.
Went to town afterwards to view the ruins of the Laugharne Castle and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The sun had completely burned off the fog and the sky was a deep dark blue making it a perfect day for picture taking. Took a lot of pictures of the castle and then followed the walkway to Dylan Thomas' boathouse. For a bit of history, he is Wales' greatest poet and the boat house where he wrote of his works is only a short walk from the resort.
It was such a beautiful day and being Christmas also, there were other people taking leisurely strolls around the area. We had to watch where we walk though because this is also an open place where they take their dogs for a walk and 'other things'. There were also warning signs in the parking lot about the risk of flooding due to the incoming tide. During extremely high tides and winter storms, the water comes up all the way to the parking lot and sometimes the main road had to be closed to traffic.
We followed the walkway to the boathouse but it was closed for the holidays. It is in an excellent location which overlooked the Bay of Carmarthen. The scenery is beautiful and all you hear are the seabirds' cries and an occasional boat going out to sea.

We cllimbed up to Castle Hill where the view was even more breathtaking because it is the highest point in the area and the surrounding scenery can be taken in slowly by making a complete turn. All we can say was "WOW!!!" We just clicked away as we walked around and explored the hill. There were still a few gun stations and only one tower is left of the Tenby Castle.
